Libre network services are crucial for software freedom. Learn how our community is taking up the challenge, and what you can do to "degooglify."
Presentation Description:
With so much of our computing happening through network services, software freedom on the desktop is no longer enough to provide privacy, autonomy and freedom. The most popular proprietary software isn't Windows or Microsoft Office anymore, but Gmail and Facebook, and the network effects are strong. How can a privacy conscious free software user stay connected with others without using Facebook? How can you avoid Gmail when everyone else is using it? Why are free software network services crucial for the future of software and internet freedom in the first place? This presentation will take a look at how our community has been innovating to address these problems with decentralized and federated solutions, and what practical steps individual users can take to "degooglify."
