One area in which proprietary JDK releases have traditionally shown superiority over OpenJDK is in monitoring and instrumentation tools. Thermostat is the manifestation of a desire to overcome this shortcoming and even reverse the trend by introducing a new, scalable, open source tool to the the ecosystem. At this talk, you'll hear about what is lacking from existing tools, what makes Thermostat design unique, some project history, and an overview of what's available now and what's coming in the future. Also, there will be a demo. Whether you are a developer, sysadmin, or QA, if there is Java in your IT stack you will want to hear about Thermostat.
